The Prison Fellowship Academy®

The Challenge

The instructor-led prison curriculum had not been updated in decades and the Senior Leadership Team needed revisions and enhancements to this flagship program.

The CEO wanted a revised curriculum 100% applicable to both men and women in prison because the original program was written for men and never changed.

The new curriculum needed to include life-changing content and exercises that would also be approved by the Department of Corrections in states across the country.

The Solution

I collaborated with experts to create a curriculum that is evidence-based and designed as a journey of personal change and transformation. There are four themes with several courses consisting of several units of 4-8 lessons each.

The Results

A recent study at a Texas men's prison shows graduates yielded a 53.8% reduction in recidivism when compared with a similar group!

The curriculum is not only adopted by the Department of Corrections and implemented in men’s and women’s prisons across the country, but also recognized by the Federal Bureau of Prisons as an effective, evidence based solution.

Client Testimonials

From President and CEO of Prison Fellowship, Heather Rice-Minus

"Independent research by several corrections departments has demonstrated the Prison Fellowship Academy, a yearlong program that replaces participants’ criminal thinking and behaviors with renewed purpose and principles, consistently lowers recidivism, meaning participants are less likely to return to prison after their release.

One recent study showed that our Academy participants had a 53.8% reduction in recidivism when matched to a comparison group with similar criminal histories and demographics.."
